The site for this residence is tucked in from both sides by a series of tall row houses. The client was open to the idea of making a compact house and the design team was keen to introduce the quintessential two storey home that seems to have become missing in the smaller plots of Delhi due to the pressure on land due to real estate value. The stilt is left for parking due to the Delhi building laws. Two floor above the stilt are used for the living areas for the family and a third floor is added for recreation. The dining table sits under skylitcut out which connects all the floors of the house. The ceiling are kept high to keep the spaces cool. As the site faces west the window area has been critically rationalized to allow for the required light with minimal heat intake. The volumes in the façade slowly set back creating a humane form through layering and shaded balconies.
